What V-Pilot Refuses
V-Pilot refuses some requests by design. Each refusal says why, and most say what to do instead.
| Request | What V-Pilot does |
|---|---|
| A feature your tenant's plan does not include | Says that your plan does not include it, suggests upgrading, and offers to open the plans page. It proposes nothing for it, and does not look for another way to do it. |
| A permission your role lacks | Names the permission, and does not try again. |
| A change that applying would refuse, such as a serverless director without its port | Proposes nothing, says what is missing or wrong, and asks you for it. It never fills in a value you did not give. |
| A change that needs a secret: a password, a token, an API key or a webhook URL | Proposes nothing, names the secrets the change needs, and tells you to make the change yourself in the console or in Cloud Shell. |
| Anything outside DataStream, or outside the tenant you are signed in to | Declines in one short sentence. Its tools reach only the signed-in tenant. |
Plans and Permissions
V-Pilot reads the tenant before it asks you for the details of a change, so that a plan or permission refusal reaches you before its questions. When it answers that your plan does not include something, it opens the plans page only when you say yes. See Access and Limits for how your role and plan are checked.
Missing Settings
When a change you ask for would fail to apply because a setting it needs is missing, V-Pilot tells you what is missing and asks you for it. It proposes the change again only with your answer, and it never fills in a value you did not give, not even an example the error shows.
Secrets
For security, V-Pilot never takes a secret's value, and it never asks for one in the chat. When a change needs a secret, it proposes nothing: it names the secrets, and you make the change in the console or in Cloud Shell.
Changes that need no secret stay allowed, even on a resource that has one. Renaming or disabling a Slack action, for example, is a change V-Pilot can propose.
Secrets that do reach V-Pilot, in a message or in what a tool reads, are removed before the text reaches the model. See Data and Privacy.
