Data and Privacy

Masking

Before any text reaches the model, V-Pilot masks it:

  • IP addresses, host names, email addresses, user names and MAC addresses are replaced with pseudonyms, such as ip_1 or host_2. The same value gets the same pseudonym throughout a conversation, so V-Pilot can follow a host from one result to the next.
  • Secrets are removed for good, among them private keys, bearer tokens and other access tokens, API keys, and the values of fields named for a secret, such as password or token.

Addresses that name no host stay as they are: 0.0.0.0, ::, loopback addresses, and 255.255.255.255.

Masking applies to your messages, to the results of the tools V-Pilot runs on your tenant, and to the page context. The results of documentation searches are public, and are not masked.

The panel shows how many values were masked before being sent to V-Pilot.

Storage

Each user's own conversations are kept, together with the map from pseudonyms back to real values. Removed secrets are not kept. When you open a conversation from Chat history, you see the real values, not the pseudonyms. Only you can see your conversations.

The page context of a message is not stored.

You can delete one conversation, or all of yours with Delete all in Chat history. Deleting cannot be undone.

Retention

A conversation left idle for 90 days, with no new message, is deleted with its messages.

When a conversation is deleted, by you or because it was idle, its session at the model's provider is deleted too, within about a minute.
